RESPONSIBILITIES AND REQUIREMENTS
Room Parents (RP) are appointed by the Executive Board for one (1) year, in consultation with the Principal and the homeroom teachers. The RP’s are vital communicators and liaisons to families for ongoing classroom, fundraising and social activities. RP’s will cooperate in all Parent Club projects and promote unity and parental interest in the activities of the individual class and the Good Shepherd Community. RP’s provide important information and communication with the highest integrity and kindness. The following list is not inclusive and may change as it pertains to the needs of the school.
- Attend monthly Parent Club meetings (typically held the 1st Wed. of each month). If you cannot attend you must contact the Parent Club President.
- Main communicator and liaison for parents of the assigned class on all fund raising or school activities.
- Letter of Introduction: Letter of introduction to the families of the class to welcome them and inform them you are the room parent and your contact
information. (See sample)
- Contact by phone all new families in your class reminding them of the New Family Orientation.
- Attend New Family Orientation if you have new families in your class attending.
- Assist in monitoring Virtus Training completion for parents in your classroom.
- Coordinate and organize all Fundraising involvement for your classroom. For example, collect and organize items for the Thanksgiving Red
Bucket. See your RP folder for complete event information.
- Assist in recruiting volunteers for special events and Yard Duty during lunch and recess.
- Consistently communicate Safety Rules (3 P’s): Parking, Pick-up and People. Always park in designated areas, always follow traffic rules during
pick-up and be diligent about strangers in the building and surrounding grounds. All visitors (including parents) must be signed in at the office and wear a visitor or volunteer badge.
- Communicate with classroom families regarding the Christmas Gift Collection.
- Assist as needed or directed by teacher of assigned class.
- Assist in coordinating chaperones for field trips as directed by the teacher. Grade-specific duties will pertain to grades Pre-K, K, 2nd, 7th and 8th.

- To work under the direction of the Principal and teacher for all class activities. (All activities must have Principal approval)
