Dear Parents,

Welcome to the Good Shepherd Catholic School website. Our school serves students from pre-kindergarten to eighth grade.  We hope this website will be helpful in finding out about Good Shepherd and answering your questions.

We are very proud of the students and teachers at Good Shepherd and feel they are very special. At Good Shepherd we strive to develop the whole child, one who is academically competitive and who demonstrates good character and compassion grounded in the principles of faith, hope and charity. Our students demonstrate academic excellence supported by Catholic values and traditions.

At Good Shepherd we recognize each child as a unique individual with special gifts and creative abilities. Together with parents we work to create an environment that fosters spiritual growth, academic success and social responsibility. Each of our students brings to Good Shepherd a unique personality, learning style and background. It’s this diversity that helps them become compassionate people. And it’s our focus on each student’s specific needs that inspires them to achieve their personal best.

We are proud of our academic excellence. Our sixth, seventh, and eighth grades are departmentalized, with our school mathematics all being taught at the same time in order to allow for ability grouping including Algebra and Geometry. Graduates of Good Shepherd attend some of the top local private high schools, including Harvard-Westlake, Loyola, Marlborough, Crespi, Immaculate Heart, Marymount, Notre Dame Academy, Notre Dame High School, Providence, St. Francis, and St. Monica.

Even though 35% of our student body is non-Catholic, religious education, in the Roman Catholic tradition, is seen as an integral part of our students’ education. We achieve this by creating dynamic learning communities that focus on educating the whole child.  Our children learn and practice values through the “Character Counts” Program. Students in every grade participate in the process of integrating their faith with other academic subjects.  Our parents find comfort in knowing they are providing their children with the best possible start in life.

We welcome visits to Good Shepherd School. Our standard tour time is Wednesday at 1:30 pm, but we would be happy to make arrangements for other tour times in order to accommodate your schedule.

We look forward to meeting your family.

Sincerely,

Sharon Monroe
